another day

I like to think that my hubby's and my contribution to the Humane Society of the United States for efforts in the hurricane relief for the abondoned animals will greatly help. I don't know how far it'll go, but it's nice to think that maybe a few animals will be rescued and fed and sheltered with the help of our donation. If you're an animal lover, isn't it sad to think that something that gives so much unconditional love could be one of the first things abandoned in times of tragedy because of limited space and resources? So many animals losing their owners because they had to leave and save themselves and left the animals to fend for themselves. I don't at all blame the people, in a time of tragedy and the horrific natural disaster that the gulf coast is facing the people needed to leave in a hurry and save themselves before the hurricane took their lives. It's just sad. I saw on tv this morning that one man lost his wife because she told him to take the kids and save them, and the water swept her away, and he hadn't seen her since yesterday. I mean, it's terrifying. I don't know what I would do in that situation. I'd probably panic.

I wish we could take in a lot of abandoned animals during the tragedy and give them a nice home. I wish I could give a home to all the abandoned animals. I'm such a softy for animals.

Switching gears...
Does anyone know of any good children's books? I am taking a children's literature class and I need to read a lot of books this semester and write summaries and recommendations for grade levels and uses. Anything from kindergarten age to high school. I don't know how many people actually read this blog, but if you could ask some others, maybe parents of young children, or other teachers, that would help a lot. Thanks!

Hmm, I think this calls for a library trip! I wish I could think of some of the really good ones that Britton and I have read. I'll check out his bookshelf and get back to you.

Good luck in school!
