Too much for me
It's huge news, but I still can't watch extensive coverage of Katrina. I watch a little, then turn it off. It's so sad and depressing. I am very fortunate I'm not a resident of the affected areas. I feel bad for them. I read in the Detroit papers that the governor of Michigan is sending buses to bring supplies down, and then bring back people to Michigan to give them a place to live. But they are placing them in old schools in Lansing and Detroit. These people will also need jobs to move on. Did the governor think about the current employment rate of our state (7%-highest in nation) when she made the decision to bring MORE unemployed people into our state? How will they move on if they have no jobs? I hope I'm missing something here that will allow them to move on. It would be a shame to bring them all up here and then they are just stuck in a northern state with no job when they could be closer to home and closer to friends and loved ones with no job.
