Lifetime, television for when I sit on my ass...
I actually got some work done after I blogged last night. I feel proud of myself. I got my math quizzes done as well as an extra credit assignment. Go me!! I also read through enough econ to answer the prof's questions for Tuesday's discussion (reading econ is like reading a technical manual for me). So, I feel good about that. Polisci prof just asked some questions in class to research via the web, so I got that done after econ and math so I could give my brain a break before attempting lit.So, here I am, Monday morning, on Lifetime Television waiting for the commercials to stop so I can see what show they are providing me this morning. UGH!!!!! they must be showing Lifetime movies all day since it's Labor Day, and their theme is babies (the other labor, and I may add, the original labor). Ugh...I was hoping for my usual mindless "The Nanny" or "Golden Girls" to just be background noise while I surfed the web. I don't want "Unwed Father" to be my background noise. Oh well. HGTV will have to do.
Thanks to those who complimented my blog. That's very nice of you. Happy day wishes to you!!! =)
I admit, I get my news from the internet, as well as from my hubby who reads extensive news websites and subscribes to the WSJ as well as others. So, I consider him a reliable source. He relayed to me this morning about the evacuees in the hurricane stricken areas being forced to choose between leaving their animals behind in order to be rescued, or stay with their animals and not be rescued. HOW CAN THEY DO THAT? I know, I know....resources and everything. I get that. But, to me, it's like forcing a parent to choose between their kids. Well, we only have room for you and one kid, who is it going to be?
I've written about this before about being a softy for animals and feeling bad that they are last to be thought of for rescue, but the emotional bond that most people have with their animals is like the bond between a parent and child. I admit, I have no children, but I do have a dog. If I was told I couldn't rescue my Ayana, I would be beside myself. If these people have been able to survive this long before being resuced, don't you think their animals had some morale influence on their survival? Many research have proved the relation to people's health and animal ownership. It's a positive correlation. I can only imagine that their bonds with their pets helped them survive for this long. Even if I just have a bad day, Ayana is there to cuddle up to me and give me doggy kisses. She just seems to know. As I know most animals seem to know when their owners need love or encouragement in the only way they now how to provide. Through their unconditional love. I know they are limited on resources. I'm not ignorant to that. But I just hope that even if they are not rescuing companion animals, that they are rescuing owners with their service animals. That would so infuriate me if they denied a person their eyes, ears and limbs just because it is attached to four legs and a tail.

I keep reading about animals in the wake of Katrina and it's just awful. It's seriously to the point where I just can't imagine it anymore. We're contributing to a charity called Noah's Wish or something like that and then I'm totally out.
