Back home...

It's not that I forgot to blog while in Chicago, but after doing the stuff during the day, I was too lazy and tired to write in my blog in the evening.

Friday- Got into Chicago between 1-2 central time. Checked into the hotel and headed out to the southwest side to visit Grandma. We stayed downtown, so the trip to Grandma's house consisted of taking the Orange Line to Midway and picking up the 62H bus to her side of the city. It was fun. We got to see my aunt and uncle and have WONDERFUL authentic Polish food made by my grandma's home health care giver who is in the states from Poland on a work visa. IT was AWESOME!! Polish sausage, sauerkraut, pierogies with potatoes and cheese, and pierogies with sauerkraut. Mmmmmm.... so good!!!!! I could eat that forever!!!! Then, after a little visit, we headed back to the hotel and had some dinner in the restaurant that's attached to the hotel. And English pub/restaurant. It was okay. Not much to write home about.

Saturday- After having a bagel and cream cheese for breakfast, we went walking around town a little. We went to Millennium Park. It's so cool. They have this waterfall water park for the public and kids and adults were in it cooling off and stuff. It was cute to see that some 2-year-old boy not wanting to be confined to the restraints of his swimtrunks. He took them off and waved the shorts around his head and was dancing. It was cute. Then the mother saw him, and it was a few seconds before it clicked in her head that maybe him being naked in public is not a good idea. =) She waved him over to her so she could put the trunks back on, much to his dismay. Also in the park they have a demo on SEGWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hubby and I went on it for a 5 minute demo, and it was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool. If I had an extra $5000 to piss away, I'd so buy one!!! At first I was a little scared, but I got the hang of it and didn't want to get off. Then after the demo, we went to Grandma's again. Had Giordano's pizza. Yum Yum. Played and visited with all the cousins ranging from 6 months to 35 years-old(including the kids of my cousin-she has 4). Got asked when I would start having kids. That's always a fun topic for me. But at least my grandma didn't ask me about religion/church this time. This time she got my brother with that question. And once I saw him hit with that question, I made an exit to another room. =)

Sunday-My brother and his family went o my grandma's to go to church with her and then drove out to their alma matter. Hubby and I, OTOH, went to his chosen place of worship: Wrigleyville. We had breakfast at one of his favorite places, Salt & Pepper Diner. That's another yummy place. After breakfast, we visited my friend Jamie from high school. she now lives in Chicago with her hubby. Hi Jamie!!! I'm glad we got to do that. Sometimes when we visit family, I'm so busy with family plans that I forget to make time for my friends in the area. I'm so bad with that, but I am trying, with the help of my hubby. So, after the visit, we walked around downtown for a few hours. I got my picture taken with a person dressed up in a Hershey's kiss. =) I'll post it when the film is developed. Went into a few stores, helped the economy a little. Then that evening we went to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner. The same place where my maid and matron of honor hosted my bachelorette party. =) Yummy place!!! I wish they had one in the Detroit area, but I guess it's a good thing they don't. Over the weekend I gained 5 pounds. Can't imagine what would happen if all my favorite dining places were within 30 minutes of me.

Monday-Experienced a new breakfast place-Cereality. It's actually a cool place. I had a bowl of Golden Grahams and Cinnamon Life with espresso, malt chunks and chocolate. I forgot what it's called, but it's like You Snooze You lose or something to that effect. It was SOOOO Good!! Awefully sweet, but so good. I could've done with only half the serving they gave me. It was a little much in my bowl. They give very hearty portions.

Then we came home. Picked up the dog and came home to a stuffy house. It felt so good sleeping in my own bed with my own pillow. I'll never forget my pillow again. I learned my lesson.
