Mmmmm....Christmas decor......

I got my seasonal email from my favorite Christmas store, Kathe Wohlfahrt. It's German. And
I ALWAYS find something I like from the catalog. More than a few items... Well, I get this email, and while it's not a new item, I still think it's soooooo cute....a smoky. It's just adorable. It's just too bad I don't have a mantle to put them on. or even a curio cabinet or something nice to showcase them when I'm not using them.

I got hooked on Kathe Wohlfahrt stuff 8 years ago when I visited my brother and sister-in-law in Germany for Christmas. After seeing the workmanship of the German woodcrafts, the stuff the US sells is just plain crap! I am much more picky when I shop for Christmas decor now after seeing quality stuff. Sure, I still get some cute crap stuff, but for long-term, showcase-type stuff, I want quality. If I could, I would fill this house with Kathe Wohlfahrt stuff. I think my mom would do the same in her house.

Christmas is my favorite holiday. Not because of presents (although it IS a bonus), but because I love decorating for the season. I don't have enough shelves or windows or places to put all my decor, so some of it remains in the box while the others get displayed. I think they are sad.

I also love the Christmas carols, both religious and secular. I really like "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing" and "Silent Night".

Ahhh....Christmas. We are hosting Christmas this year, and I hope it goes well. I hope we have enough room for everyone to be comfortable and everything. I also hope people like the food I make.
